Sewing Machine Workshops:

Sewing Machine And Creative Machine Stitching Basics -
2 day workshop - Beginners
(16th and 17th May 2020)

This workshop is designed for beginners with limited knowledge of how to use a sewing machine for creative textile work.

All the parts and functions of the machine, including accessories will be explained, including how to choose the right thread and the right needles.

The first day is more theoretical with practical exercises after each section, including learning how to make the most of built–in stitches. The second day is very much hands-on, with lots of practice getting adventurous with machine tensions and free motion stitching to create some lovely textured and expressive samples.

Creative Machine Embroidery I
(Using Water Soluble Stabilizers) -
2 day workshop - Beginners to Advanced
(20th and 21st June 2020)

This workshop will extend your knowledge of free machine embroidery and working with water soluble stabilizers, giving you the opportunity to create your own lacelike and stand-alone fabric for wearable art, fashion accessories, jewellery and 3D sculpted forms.

Although this course is suitable for all skill levels, basic sewing machine skills are recommended.

Creative Machine Embroidery II
(Painting with Threads) -
2 day workshop - Intermediate to Advanced
(18th and 19th July 2020)

This workshop will show you how to combine free machine embroidery with various art media, such as watercolour pencils, transfer crayons and alcohol inks, to create thread painted pictures and quilted panels with colourful depth and texture. You will learn various techniques for transferring designs, along with tips and tricks for painless free motion sewing, to create thread painted pieces from your own photographs or imagination.
